"A feeling of refuge where the home truly holds the chasm of the spirit, as a primordial, maternal hug."

We are an Italian-born, Nairobi-based small Interior Design studio specialized in Residential design.

We deliver spaces where your body and soul are supported and held, like in a primordial hug; where your identity is represented, your personal autobiography inscribed in the memory of your objects; where you can retreat and soothe.

Spaces where humans can reproduce a cyclical, perpetual process of self-recognition and co-creation between them and their habitat, and finally find a sense of inner balance.

Designing a home means accessing the sacred space of someone’s most intimate part of their daily life. In doing so, you become responsible for that person’s wellbeing, their sense of belonging and their feelings of protection and security.

Residential Interiors are the one single realm where reaching the most level of warmth and comfort is fundamental.

Homes are deeply personal, and with that level of intimacy comes the greatest opportunity of silently padding and almost entering someone’s inviolable space and crafting their refuge, a safe and grounding experience that carries deep, confidential truth. Homes bear one’s memory, one’s roots. In this sense, they symbolize and evoke the most profound, suggestive essence of permanence.

Designing a home is a process of mutual self-recognition between the owner and their home. The design happens in co-creation with you, around your most relevant personal, unique items, representing your memory and truth.

DESIGN

Principles

Human-centred interior experience. The design is “experientially driven”: the space is felt, before being seen.
Your physical, mental, spiritual wellness is at the centre.
The space revolves around the human natural movements, embracing the body and providing comfort to the soul.

Design choices prioritize warm, textured, environmentally conscious, context-appropriate materials, ensuring the client’s wellbeing, responsibility towards nature and the specific local surroundings, and cultural awareness.

Carla Procida

Founder

After a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design that formed the base of her design expertise, and a Master’s Degree in Product-Service System Design that sparked her interest in inclusive and participatory approaches to design, both pursued at Politecnico di Milano, Carla enriched her studies with two Erasmus+ programmes and various workshop experiences with a focus on sustainable, self-construction and wood design, and finally consolidated her studies in socially engaged design and architecture through the II level Master “Design for Development - Architecture, Urban Planning and Heritage in the Global South”, completed in late 2020 in Politecnico di Milano as well, with a focus on participatory approaches to working with under-served communities in contexts of socioeconomic inequality.

Following diverse experiences in various European cities, as well as working and designing in and for a number of countries (Kenya, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, China, Australia), from 2020 to 2026 she co-founded and co-led an architecture-focused non-profit organization operating in Kenya, a critical experience that consolidated her competences at the intersection of Interior Design, development and participatory / co-creative processes.

Finally, through the years she has developed an interest to integrate sustainable, natural materials in interiors and architecture, as a way of design locally-rooted spaces; she therefore received and keeps continuously upskilling through specific additional training on various techniques such as lime-based, earth-based and wooden finishes and building techniques.

The convergence of these experiences and skills has positioned her as a trusted professional able to design human-centered, culturally-appropriate and environmentally sustainable interior spaces, locally rooted in the Kenyan landscape where she has lived and worked since 2021 and is now fully based in.

As a designer, she pursues the profound societal impact Interior Design can have as a confidential, sacred creative expression, she believes every human being deserves to live in a dignified, beautiful, comfortable space, and her aim is to contribute to create a healthy, comfortable and environmentally sustainable built environment for all through Interior Design.
